R. Alberto Rosa, MD, FACC

Photo of Dr. RosaDr. Ramon Alberto Rosa is a graduate of the University of Santo Domingo in his native Dominican Republic. He completed his post-graduate medical education at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia with a residency in internal medicine (1991-1994), Chief Medical Resident (1994-1995), and cardiology fellowship (1995-1998).

Dr. Rosa has practiced cardiology in Sussex County since July 1998. He has served as Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and as Chief of the Department of Cardiology at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE. Dr. Rosa is trained in non-invasive cardiology, Nuclear Transesopageal Echocardiograms, as well as invasive diagnostic procedures and pacemaker implantations. Dr. Rosa is board certified by the American Boards of Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He is also a Certified Aviation Medical Examiner and is Board Certified in Nuclear Medicine.

Kenneth Sunnergren, MD, PhD, FACC

Dr. Sunnergren earned his B.S. degree from the University of Miami and his M.D. and Ph.D. from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He completed his internal medicine residency at The Medical College of Virginia and his Cardiology Fellowship at The University of Texas.

Dr. Sunnergren maintains an office practice and serves at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, DE.  He performs diagnostic cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker and device implants, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, stress testing and interpretations of vascular tests. He has served in many appointed roles in the Department of Cardiology at Beebe Medical Center, Episcopal Heart Institute in Philadelphia, and Cooper Hospital in Camden, NJ. Dr. Sunnergren is board certified by the American Boards of Internal Medicine and Cardiology and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

G. Robert Myers, MD

Dr. G. Robert Myers joined Cardiovascular Consultants of Southern Delaware as an Interventional Cardiologist on July 7, 2011.  He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology at Christiana Hospital. 

Dr. Myers is trained in Nuclear Cardiology and Peripheral Vascular Disease, and is board certified in Echocardiography, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and is a native Delawarean, growing up in North Bowers Beach.  Dr. Myers also was a minor league pitcher with the Baltimore Orioles and Minnesota Twins.   Dr. Myers, his wife, and 5 children now reside in Lewes.

Ajith J. Kumar, MD

Dr. Ajith Kumar joined Cardiovascular Consultants of Southern Delaware August 2017. Prior to joining Cardiovascular Consultants, Dr. Kumar practiced in Northern Delaware for 16 years.

Dr. Kumar earned his bachelor's degree from Ohio State University and his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis, Mo. He completed his internal medicine residency at Washington University Hospital and his cardiovascular fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Dr. Kumar is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association and the American Heart Association.

Kevin Caldwell, MD

Kevin Caldwell, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, in Baltimore, in 2011. Dr. Caldwell then completed an intern year in General Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center and, most recently, completed an Integrated Vascular Surgery residency at Southern Illinois University, in Springfield, Ill.

Carlos Neves, MD

Carlos Neves, MD, received his medical degree from Rutgers University/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey and did a surgical internship at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he also completed his Surgical residency. He completed Fellowship training in Vascular Surgery at Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey.

Dr. Neves specializes in both open and endovascular (minimally invasive) repair of aneurysm disease as well as carotid artery surgery for stroke prevention. He offers percutaneous or incision-less repair of aortic aneurysms. Other areas of interest include: complex lower extremity endovascular reconstructions with minimally invasive procedure with balloon angioplasty, atherectomy and stenting for peripheral arterial disease, complex lower extremity bypass procedures, carotid artery stenting, hemodialysis access, placement and retrieval of IVC filters, treatment of varicose veins and all types of venous disorders. Dr. Neves also received training in the evaluation and minimally invasive treatment for pelvic congestion syndrome.

Sean Ryan, MD

Sean Ryan, MD, received his medical degree from Rutgers University/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. He completed his General Surgical residency at Christiana Care Health System and completed his Fellowship training in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He spent an extra year of training during surgical residency in a laboratory to work on tissue regeneration and teaching anatomy at the University of Delaware.

Dr. Ryan specializes in both open and endovascular (minimally invasive) repair of aneurysm disease. He offers percutaneous or incision-less repair of aortic aneurysms. Other areas of clinical interest include: complex endovascular treatments—balloon angioplasty, atherectomy, stenting—of peripheral arterial disease, lower extremity revascularization (bypass) procedures, carotid artery surgery and stenting, permanent hemodialysis access for end-stage renal disease, placement and retrieval of IVC filters, and the management of the full spectrum of venous disease.

Penny Johnson, DNP, CRNP

Penny is a Professional Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with 17 years of cardiology experience whom graduated from the University of Alabama with her Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice.  She is seasoned in acute and outpatient cardiac care within interventional and electrophysiology. 

Penny is ACLS/BLS Certified, ANCC Board Certified, Medicare Licensed, also with MD/DE/VA/PA Nurse practitioner Licensure.

Samantha Eckrote, FNP

Samantha is an advanced practiced registered nurse who joined Cardiovascular Consultants of Southern DE December 2018. She received her BSN from Wesley college and master's degree for Family Nurse Practitioning from Wilmington University, graduating magna cum laude for both programs. She has been working as a nurse in cardiology for 8 years.
